LOVE is a big word – It means so many different things to each of us.
Love is when you choose to be at your best when the other
person is not at their best.
Love is when what you want is never important. But what
the other person needs and wants is always paramount.
It can be so easy to show love to others but how do we show it to ourselves? It starts in the little things like taking care of our bodies and staying healthy. When we feel good physically it radiates to our actions and behaviors towards ourselves and others. So often we put ourselves last on the list – but as they say on the airplane – please put your oxygen mask on first and then you can help your children or others.
Treat yourself the way would like to be treated by others – say nice things to yourself when you look in the mirror, buy some of your favorite flowers just because. Go to your favorite restaurant for lunch just because. Doing things for ourselves can be super challenging especially when we were raised with the mindset that others should do nice things for us but not ourselves. Forget that advice and take charge of your happiness. At first it may feel unreal and awkward but like anything else in life – practice makes perfect.
